Erasmus academic staff mobility visit from the University of Valencia to the CUT Language Centre

The Language Centre of the Cyprus University of Technology is pleased to have hosted Dr Ana Sevilla Pavón (PhD in Applied Linguistics), Assistant Professor at the University of Valencia and researcher at IULMA, SILVA and TALIS projects. Dr Sevilla Pavón visited the Language Centre within the framework of the Erasmus Staff Mobility Programme. During her visit, she gave a Digital Storytelling workshop and two TALIS Creative Writing workshops. The Digital Storytelling workshop was attended by a mix of participants, such as language teachers at various levels of education, postgraduate and undergraduate students, as well as professional storytellers from Cyprus and Greece. The workshop was well received by participants as they were informed by the presenter about the benefits of storytelling and were guided step-by-step into creating their own story in a digital format. Dr Sevilla Pavón also conducted two Creative Writing workshops within the framework of the TALIS project – Tales around the world. The workshops were carried out in the university’s Spanish for Academic Purposes class and in the Greek Language and Culture class attended by Kenyan students of the Cyprus University of Technology. The students’ stories, composed during the workshops, will be shared on the TALIS project’s website (http://english.proyectotalis.com/). Dr Sevilla Pavón was toured in the university premises and also gave an interview at the CUT Radio sharing her experiences during her visit at the Language Centre of the university. The Language Centre recognises the multiple gains of hosting such important academics from partner universities and aspires to establish more collaborations in the future.
