Counseling- Psychotherapeutic services

The Center of Student is present in the life of all undergraduate and postgraduate students, any time during their college life they might need it. You can reach out at the Center for any difficulty or concern to discuss with the Center’s officer in complete confidentiality and respect. All the provided services are free of charge.

Many college students are asked to adjust into new situations, like leaving from their hometown, living alone or with a roommate, establishing new interpersonal relationships, experiencing unprecedented demands from the academic studies, moments of uncertainty, and unfamiliar circumstances. It’s expected that some of these experiences might be intense, and could trigger an array of emotional reactions: sadness, stress, hopelessness, and devastation. It is common that these feelings, might be linked to dysfunctional behaviors such as emotional withdrawal, drowsiness, insomnia, increase or decrease of appetite, difficulty concentrating, increased or decreased energy levels, frustration, and anger bursts which can affect negatively our occupational, student, and interpersonal roles as well as our academic achievement, our personal, and social life. It is also possible that some difficulties might become more prominent after the introduction into the student life, like family problems, assertiveness, romantic relationships, and losses.

The arrangement of individual appointments is made either through phone 25002411/250025340 or via email counseling@cut.ac.cy or personally if you visit the Center of Student Development at Tasos Papadoopoulos building on first floor.

After your first appointment, you will discuss with the Center’s officer how long it is expected for the psychological intervention to last, as it is personalized to what each one of you might need. Some individuals need a short-term intervention for something that troubles them, whereas others require a long-term collaboration with the Center’s counseling services. There are no restrictions on the number of appointments allowed for each person, and the appointments last approximately 45-50 minutes. The appointments are preferred to be face to face, but in rare and special situations they could be facilitated through the web. In cases where it is necessary to investigate prescription of medication, the Center of Student Development will refer to a specialized doctor.

Our goal as a Center of Student Development and as a Counseling Center is to empower the individuals who receive services to cope with anything that might be troubling for them, in an effective way, with the application of empirically evidence-based interventions.

Alongside the individual meetings, the Center of Student Development runs workshops and seminars on a frequent basis with topics related to self-knowledge and development of emotional skills.

All of our events, videos, videotaped webinars, quotes, tools and articles are uploaded, and you can keep in touch with us through our page on Facebook. Like the page and stay connected!
