Dr. Marios E. Costa received his Bachelor's degree with grade “Excellent” and his PhD (GPA: 9.28/10) in Physics, from the University of Cyprus, in 2010 and 2014, respectively. His undergraduate record was excellent, placing him clearly at the top 5th percentile of all the undergraduates of the Department of Physics. Starting with his undergraduate thesis, and continuing through his graduate studies, Dr. Costa focused on Lattice Gauge Theories. This entailed acquiring quite a broad background in Quantum Field Theory, Path Integrals, Gauge Theories, Lattice Field Theory, as well as sophisticated techniques for performing perturbative calculations. He has by now a solid grasp on a large variety of physical problems in Lattice Gauge Theories, and expertise in many topics of Hadronic Physics. During his doctoral studies he received an Award from the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, for excellent academic and research performance in the doctoral program of the Department of Physics. Since the completion of his PhD, in June 2014, Dr. Costa has worked as a special scientist at the Cyprus University of Technology and at the University of Cyprus. He also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Physics Department of the University of Cyprus. During his Postdoctoral, together with Prof. H. Panagopoulos, they have been investigating Supersymmetric Quantum Field Theories regularized on the lattice. In total, he has published 15 papers and conference proceedings and his work has been presented in a number of international scientific conferences. Dr. Costa participated in research projects funded by the RPF, one of which ranked first among ninety other proposals under the supervision of Prof. H. Panagopoulos (ΤΕΧΝΟΛΟΓΙΑ/ΘΕΠΙΣ/0311(ΒΕ)/16). At present he is a special scientist at Cyprus University of Technology, where he teaches a number of undergraduate Physics courses.
