Create, Present and Engage interactively in language teaching through the use of Nearpod. A workshop organised by the Cyprus University of Technology Language Centre.


The Language Centre of the Cyprus University of Technology successfully organised a workshop on “Create, Present and Engage interactively in language teaching through the use of Nearpod”. The workshop was facilitated by Dr Androulla Athanasiou, a LC member of staff, on Saturday the 06th May 2017 at the CUT Language Centre.

The workshop was based on current theories and practices in the use of technology for language teaching purposes and aimed at language teachers who wish to use Nearpod as an innovative and engaging technological tool in language teaching contexts. During the workshop, participants were initially introduced to the pedagogical applications of the tool, how it is being used by educators and what the benefits are in implementing it in the language classroom. Following, participants were provided with hands on practice in creating their own Nearpod lessons and in sharing ideas and experiences.

The workshop was attended by a mix of participants, such as language teachers at various levels of education, postgraduate students and members of staff. The workshop was well received by participants as they were informed by the presenter about how a technological tool, like Nearpod, can be used in a pedagogical way in language teaching and learning.
