Sustainability is one of our core strategic principles at the Cyprus University of Technology, therefore we encourage actions towards this direction. We aim to empower higher education faculty, administrators, staff and students to be drivers of sustainable social innovation. Our participation in sustainability networks and the synergies with our partners will enhance our sustainability culture” stated the Rector of the Cyprus University of Technology, Prof. Panayiotis Zaphiris."

As a modern University, the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is committed to the global collective consciousness, aligning with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN).

As part of CUT’s commitment to advancing sustainable development, in 2010 the University established a Green Office and adopted an Environmental Policy and in 2017, created a Sustainable Education, Research and Development team to advance the University‘s sustainable development efforts. More recently, in October 2020 the University established a committee to propose improvements to university life and in April 2021, the Rector initiated a Student Social Commitment Award to recognize students who engage in volunteering, societal actions and/or achieving societal impact in relation to the SDGs.

As a pioneering University in the field of sustainability, CUT is a member of a number of networks and communities where their main goal is Sustainable Development. Together with other partners, the University achieved the inclusion of Cyprus to the EIT Climate-KIC, the main initiative of the European Union to combat the effects of Climate Change and to promote Sustainable Development through systemic innovation and entrepreneurship actions.

CUT is also a member of the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN), whose mission is to provide an international forum for the exchange of information and the achievement of sustainable operation of campuses by integrating sustainability into research and teaching.

Moreover, the University is a member of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Cyprus, a network dedicated to providing scientific solutions for the implementation of the 17 SDGs throughout Cyprus.

Finally, the University adopts a series of actions that promote the electronic governance such as the e-payment system and the e-signature.
