Οι υποψήφιες/οι για αυτή την θέση θα πρέπει να κατέχουν:

1. Διδακτορικό τίτλο από Αναγνωρισμένο Πανεπιστήμιο στα σχετικά γνωστικά  αντικείμενα Γεωπονικές Επιστήμες, Επιστήμη και Τεχνολογία Τροφίμων, Χημείας, Φαρμακευτικής ή άλλο συναφή κλάδο
2. Εμπειρία σε χρωματογραφικές και/ ή φασματοσκοπικές τεχνικές
3. Διεκπεραίωση ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων από εθνικά ή/και ευρωπαϊκά κονδύλια, θα αποτελεί επιπρόσθετο προσόν.

5. Πολύ καλή γνώση της Αγγλικής Γλώσσας

για Ανάπτυξη Αλγορίθμων Διαχείρισης Συστήματων Αποθήκευσης Δεδομένων

Το Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου δέχεται αιτήσεις για την πλήρωση μίας (1) θέσης Ερευνητικής/ού Συνεργάτιδας/η (Κατηγορία: Μεταπτυχιακής/ού Συνεργάτιδας/η, Υποκατηγορία: Βοηθού Ερευνήτριας/τή Α ή Βοηθού Ερευνήτριας/τή Β) στο Τμήμα Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών και Μηχανικών Η/Υ και Πληροφορικής για πλήρη ή μερική απασχόληση στο γνωστικό αντικείμενο «Ανάπτυξη Αλγορίθμων Διαχείρισης Συστημάτων Αποθήκευσης Δεδομένων», η οποία χρηματοδοτείται από την εταιρεία Huawei Technologies Inc. στα πλαίσια του Ερευνητικού Έργου «Storage Data Flow Management based on Machine Learning» (SMML).

Ο κύριος στόχος του έργου SMML είναι να αυτοματοποιήσει τη διαχείριση ροής δεδομένων σε υβριδικά συστήματα αποθήκευσης δεδομένων (hybrid data storage systems) με αποθηκευτικά μέσα διαφορετικών τύπων, επιπέδων και γενεών. Η αυτοματοποίηση αυτή θα βασίζεται σε νέους αλγόριθμους τεχνητής νοημοσύνης προκειμένου να επιτευχθεί βέλτιστη αναλογία απόδοσης προς κόστος κάτω από διαφορετικά μέσα αποθήκευσης (π.χ., HDD, SSD, NVRAM).

Η/Ο ερευνητική/ός συνεργάτιδα/της  θα είναι υπεύθυνη/ος για την υλοποίηση τέτοιων αλγορίθμων, οι οποίοι θα κατευθύνουν τις βασικές λειτουργίες ενός υβριδικού συστήματος αποθήκευσης δεδομένων. Για παράδειγμα, οι αλγόριθμοι αυτοί πρέπει να αποφασίζουν πότε και ποια δεδομένα πρέπει να μετακινηθούν από δίσκους σε μνήμη για τη βέλτιστη εξυπηρέτηση ενός φορτίου. Οι αλγόριθμοι αυτοί θα υλοποιηθούν μέσα σε ένα προσομοιωτή (simulator), ο οποίος έχει ήδη αρχίσει να υλοποιείται στα πλαίσια αυτού του ερευνητικού έργου στη γλώσσα προγραμματισμού Java.

Οι υποψήφιες/ιοι για αυτή την θέση θα πρέπει να κατέχουν:

• Πτυχίο ή μεταπτυχιακό επιπέδου Μάστερ από αναγνωρισμένο πανεπιστήμιο στην επιστήμη της Πληροφορικής, ή σε συναφές γνωστικό αντικείμενο
• Πολύ καλή γνώση της Αγγλικής Γλώσσας (προφορικού και γραπτού λόγου)
• Πολύ καλή γνώση της γλώσσας προγραμματισμού Java
• Πολύ καλές επικοινωνιακές και οργανωτικές ικανότητες

Τα πιο κάτω θα θεωρηθούν ως επιπρόσθετο προσόν:

• Οποιαδήποτε εμπειρία ή τριβή στην υλοποίηση προγραμμάτων σε Java σχετικών με συστήματα αποθήκευσης δεδομένων ή/και μηχανική μάθηση
• Εμπειρία στη διεκπεραίωση έρευνας/ών σχετικών με το γνωστικό αντικείμενο

Οι μηνιαίες ακαθάριστες απόλαβες της/ου υποψηφίας/ου θα ανέρχονται μεταξύ € 1755,13 και € 1805,04, αναλόγως προσόντων, σύμφωνα με τα σημερινά δεδομένα και την ισχύουσα νομοθεσία. Η εργοδότηση αναμένεται να είναι από 2 Μάϊου 22 μέχρι 30 Απριλίου 2023. Σημειώνεται ότι, παρέχεται 13° μισθός, ο οποίος έχει ενσωματωθεί κατ’ αναλογία στη μηνιαία αντιμισθία.

Enrichment of 2D/3D Images and Data with Metadata and Semantics

Curie Early Stage Researcher (ESR) Fellow Position in the newly established UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage / Digital Heritage Research Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology

(CUT) in the research fields of Enrichment of 2D/3D Image and Data for volumetric models/objects with Metadata and Semantics:

The selected Marie S. Curie ESR will work for twelve (12) months within the ITN CHANGE Marie S. Curie ITN Project which, is the only EU funded programme bringing together eight (8) leading European Institutions as full beneficiaries and ten (10) other as partners in a transnational network, aiming at implementing a multidisciplinary and intersectorial research and training programme between the academic, research and the industrial partners.

Description

Cultural Heritage (CH) is an integral element of Europe and vital for the creation of a common European identity and one of the greatest assets for steering Europe’s social, economic development and job creation. However, the current research training activities in CH are fragmented and mostly designed to be of a single-discipline, failing to cover the whole lifecycle of Digital Cultural Heritage (DCH) research, which is by nature a multi-disciplinary and intersectorial research agenda. The CHANGE project will train a new generation of early stage researchers towards a common goal, namely the assessment of changes of tangible cultural heritage (CH) objects and their monitoring in the atmosphere and/or during their conservation treatment using multimodal imaging techniques in complement to more traditional analytical techniques. Their research will consist in an optimised capturing of data and their analysis, visualisation and management to ensure a better documentation and long-term preservation of our common EU CH. This work will be carried out within an interdisciplinary environment involving 5 CH and 4 Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) beneficiary institutions as well as 9 CH, ICT and industrial partners from 8 EU countries.

Position:

One ESR to be recruited by the host organization of the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol, Cyprus for the duration of one (1) year under full employment contract. The fellow will work on: Development of advanced metadata and semantic model for integrating: (1) Paradata of the acquisition technologies and historical and archaeological evidence of CH objects, (2) the argumentation leading to virtual reconstruction and discussing alternatives with the object owners/ stakeholders, (3) the connection of physical and social-historical, constructive, functional, aesthetic and environmental parameters, etc. with 2D/3D documentation of CH objects.

Expected Results:

A contribution to the holistic e-documentation of 2D/3D CH objects: metadata, paradata, semantics, reflecting the interpretation and story of the CH asset.

The Applicant should:

1.  Have completed at least a four or five-year education cycle (e.g. Diploma in Engineering, Master’s Degree, etc) from a recognized university in Geomatics, Surveying Engineering, Computer- / Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and/or Chemical Engineering, Architecture, Conservation/Preservation, Archaeology with less than four (4) years of continuous full-time research experience in the above fields, with excellent skills in one of the following areas such as  2D/3D Data Acquisition/Surveying Engineering, 2D/3D Computer Graphics, digital 2D/3D documentation of Cultural Heritage tangible objects, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analysis, Chemical Engineering Conservation/Preservation in Cultural Heritage and very good language and communication / implementation skills,

2.  At the time of recruitment, not have resided (or carried out his/her main activity e.g. work, studies, etc.) in Cyprus, for more than 12 months in the last 3 years immediately prior to the reference recruitment date and

3.  Excellent knowledge of the English language at a proficiency level (spoken and written)

• The monthly gross salary for this position will be 2,700.91 Euro. From this amount employer and employee contributions to the Cyprus government funds will be deducted (Note: the monthly gross salary after the deduction of employer contributions amounts to €2350.66 for 143.33 working hours per month). 13th salary is provided and has been incorporated into the monthly gross salary. In addition, the fellow will be entitled to family and mobility allowances, according to the regulations of the Marie S. Curie Actions Programme regulations.  In total, the funding covers: (a) living/salary, (b) family allowance (€500 per month) for fellows with spouses or dependent children and (c) mobility allowance (€600 per month - no restrictions on what this is spent on),

5. Διεκπεραίωση ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων από εθνικά ή/και ευρωπαϊκά κονδύλια καθώς και στην συγγραφή ερευνητικών προτάσεων για χρηματοδότηση

Οι μηνιαίες ακαθάριστες απολαβές καθορίζονται ως εξής, βάσει των σημερινών δεδομένων και της ισχύουσας νομοθεσίας.

• Θέσεις Μεταπτυχιακών Συνεργατών (Βοηθών Ερευνητών Α): €1,847.45~€2,145.58

Το ύψος των απολαβών για του επιτυχόντες υποψηφίους θα καθοριστεί αναλόγως προσόντων και διαθεσιμότητας προϋπολογισμού. Η εργοδότηση θα είναι από 4 Απριλίου 2022 μέχρι 31 Δεκεμβρίου 2022, με ενδεχόμενη προοπτική ανανέωσης. Οι υποψήφιες/ιοι για αυτή την θέση θα πρέπει να κατέχουν:

Applications are invited from candidates who possess the necessary qualifications in order to fill the following academic position at the Cyprus University of Technology:

DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION AND INTERNET STUDIES

Faculty OF COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA STUDIES

• One (1) position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Lecturer in the specialization:"Digital Humanities’

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

• A continuous and focused program of research in the field of digital humanities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

The successful applicant should be able to contribute to the Department’s efforts for teaching and research excellence.

Priority will be given to applicants with demonstrated interdisciplinarity in their research.

Applicants for all academic positions should have a doctorate degree from a recognized University in a related field. The university reserves the right to request recognition of the doctorate degree from the Cyprus Council for the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (K.Y.S.A.T.S). The minimum qualifications that are required for each academic position, including publications and academic experience, are detailed on the University’s webpage: https://www.cut.ac.cy/university/administration/administrative-services/hr/jobs/staff-categories/academic-staff-qualifications/?languageId=1 These qualifications are based on the candidate’s years of academic experience, his/her research and scientific contribution.

The candidates will be assessed only for the rank or the ranks for which they have applied.

Citizenship of the Republic of Cyprus is not required.

According to the Cyprus University of Technology Law, the language of instruction at the University is either Greek or Turkish. For the current position, good knowledge of the Greek language is required; evidence is provided in the relevant circular by the Public Service Commission, or B2 Level according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

In case an elected candidate does not have a good knowledge of Greek language based on the criteria set above, it is his/her obligation upon his/her election to achieve it within three years time, with the commitment of the relevant Academic Department.

The annual gross salary for each position (including the 13th salary) is:                                                                                                                                                                    

From this amount, employee contributions to Government Funds as well as Income Tax will be deducted, according to the legislation into effect.

It is expected that the successful candidate will be available by January 2023, unless otherwise agreed.

3. A short review of their research interests as well as a brief description of their future research plans - up to 500 words
4. Three representative scientific publications of their work. This is not obligatory for candidates who apply for the position of Lecturer

Names and email addresses of at least three academics, who, upon submission of the application, will be automatically notified to submit confidential reference letters in English, within seven (7) days from the deadline of the submission of applications.                                                            The University may also request reference letters from independent referees of the choice of members of the Special Committee, if considered necessary. 

Applications, documents as well as reference letters that were submitted for previous position advertisements will not be taken into consideration.
