Dr. Virginia Garcia is currently working at the ETC-UMA (European Topic Centre affiliated to the University of Malaga) in Spain. Her professional interest is nature conservation using remote sensing and GIS. She got a first Master degree in Integrated Management of Coasts, expedited by the European consortium Edu@com in 2007. She obtained her master degree on Remote Sensing and GIS on 2008 at the University Autonoma of Barcelona (Spain), followed by a PhD on Remote sensing and Ecology at the University Pablo de Olavide (Spain), on 2012. Later, she had two postdoc fellowships at the University of Alberta (Canada) focused on LiDAR and UAV technologies for the monitoring of forests and agriculture, from 2015-2018. Also, she has experience in the private sector, as she worked with EFTAS FErnerkundung (Germany) from 2012-2015 and Skymatics Ltd. (Canada) from 2017-2018.
