The Unit has participated in the Science and Innovation Week (23-27 September 2013), organized by Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, in order to promote to the public the role and activities of the scientific community. The Unit has contributed in various ways:
- High school students have visited the unit and had hands-on experience on making thin films and characterizing them
- Poster presentations on the Unit's structure and main activities have been delivered at an Innovation night organized at Philoxenia on the 24th of September 2013.
The Science Week ended with the 'Researcher's Night: Science Rocks' that took place on Evagoras Lanitis Charob Mills on the 27th of September.
Prof. Kelires has joined the Editorial Board of Scientific Reports - a Journal from the publishers of Nature
