Dr. Pavlos Nikolaidis holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) and Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Electrical Energy Systems from the Polytechnic University of Patras, as well as a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Advanced Engineering and Sustainable Development, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Renewable Energy Sources from the Cyprus University of Technology.
Currently, he serves as a Power Systems Engineer at the Electricity Authority of Cyprus and as a Special Scientist at the Cyprus University of Technology, roles he has held since 2016. His professional journey includes significant experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer in the construction [...]industry and as a Telecommunications Engineer with the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority.
Dr. Nikolaidis made a pioneering contribution to renewable energy development in Cyprus by advocating for the mandatory implementation of lightning protection in photovoltaic (PV) parks, a policy that has since been adopted as a licensing requirement. His research is focused on developing advanced tools to enhance the flexibility of modern power systems, enabling them to better integrate stochastic renewable energy sources.
Dr. Nikolaidis is a Guest Editor for the Special Issues on "Low-Carbon and Renewable Energy Technology" and "Artificial Intelligence Techniques in Smart Grids" in prominent high-impact journals. His prolific scholarly output includes numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and conference papers. Notably, he has been honored as one of the World’s Top 2% Scientists and is listed among the Top Researchers globally, as identified by Stanford University, Elsevier and Scopus.
