The International Association of Photography & Theory [IAPT] is pleased to present the exhibition IAPT PhotoBook:2021 Perceiving Landscape(s), at Koraï Project Space, Nicosia, Cyprus. The Cyprus University of Technology is a proud supporter of the event.
As suggested by the title Perceiving Landscape(s), the works - photography books and artist’s editions selected through an open call - constitute an attempt to explore different methodologies of approaching, sensing and recording information that inform each unique perception of landscape and the relationships that develop between place and viewer.
From idiosyncratic activations of memory and intersections of personal experiences with archival imagery, to ambiguous abstractions of scientific data, Perceiving Landscape(s) examines how contemporary photographic and publishing practices seek to engage in explorations of landscapes both physical and otherwise, to negotiate modes of landscape accessibility and to provide insight into new and potential processes of sensing, understanding or conceiving landscape in its nuanced complexities.

Όπως εισηγείται ο τίτλος Perceiving Landscape(s), τα έργα που παρουσιάζονται - φωτογραφικές εκδόσεις και βιβλία καλλιτεχνών που έχουν επιλεγεί μέσα από ανοικτό κάλεσμα του Οργανισμού - αποτελούν αντικατοπτρισμό διαφορετικών μεθοδολογιών προσέγγισης, αίσθησης και καταγραφής πληροφοριών που διαμορφώνουν κάθε αντίληψη του τοπίου και των μοναδικών σχέσεων που αναπτύσσονται μεταξύ θεατή και τόπου.
Μέσα από ιδιοσυγκρατικές ενεργοποιήσεις μνήμης, διασταυρώσεις προσωπικών εμπειριών με αρχειακό υλικό, αφαιρετικές αντιπαραβολές επιστημονικών στοιχείων, το Perceiving Landscape(s) εξετάζει πως οι σύγχρονες φωτογραφικές και εκδοτικές πρακτικές επιχειρούν να προσεγγίσουν εξερευνήσεις του τοπίου, του φυσικού ή και άλλου, να διαπραγματευτούν διαφορετικούς τρόπους προσβασιμότητας σε αυτό/α και να δημιουργήσουν προσβάσεις σε καινοτόμες και δυνητικές διαδικασίες κατασκευής και, κατ’ επέκταση, σύλληψης του τοπίου.

Μέσα από ιδιοσυγκρατικές ενεργοποιήσεις μνήμης, διασταυρώσεις προσωπικών εμπειριών με αρχειακό υλικό, αφαιρετικές αντιπαραβολές επιστημονικών στοιχείων, το Perceiving Landscape(s) εξετάζει πως οι σύγχρονες φωτογραφικές και εκδοτικές πρακτικές επιχειρούν να προσεγγίσουν εξερευνήσεις του τοπίου, του φυσικού ή και άλλου, να διαπραγματευτούν διαφορετικούς τρόπους προσβασιμότητας σε αυτό/α και να δημιουργήσουν προσβάσεις σε καινοτόμες και δυνητικές διαδικασίες κατασκευής και, κατ’ επέκταση, σύλληψης του τοπίου.
