Cyprus University of Technology recognises the invaluable contribution that comes from the richness of diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, as well as the imperative to recognise and embrace these differences. With this in mind, it seeks to actively promote a culture of inclusion in the university community.
In order to foster a university environment that is welcoming, inclusive, positive, safe, empowering and just, the University has established:
- a designated Office for Diversity and Inclusion under the Rector’s office, which is an important milestone in the University’s ongoing commitment to cultivate a culture of equity and inclusion at the Cyprus University of Technology.
- the Equality Committee, which is an advisory body to the Rector and works to improve the University's performance in matters of Diversity, Inclusion and Equality. It considers issues of strategic planning and policy development. It cultivates close collaboration with other relevant university committees, services, entities and working groups both inside and outside the University and works closely with the Diversity and Inclusion Office.
CUT has developed comprehensive frameworks to promote inclusivity and equity across all areas of its operations. These include the following:
- Equality Plan 2022-2024
- Code of practice for preventing and combating Harassment and Sexual Harassment
- Equal Access Plan
- Manual for inclusive language
- Breast Milk Extraction and Breastfeeding Policy
- Handbook on inclusive strategies for gender and intersectionality in research and training
CUT provides attractive salaries for all levels of Researchers and promotes the principle of Equal Pay, which is an important milestone for human rights and gender equality. The University strictly adheres to National Labour Legislation and CUT Rules with regards to the salaries and benefits for all employees at CUT. Salaries of Permanent Research Staff per academic rank are defined in the University Budget Law. In addition, the University implements the Scales of the Cyprus Government, including any increases on basic pay decided by the Cyprus Government. Rules for Researchers on fixed term contract define the minimum and maximum hourly cost depending on the category and qualifications of researchers, hence ensuring equal pay. All researchers at all levels, are entitled to 13th salary and other benefits such as social insurance coverage, maternity and paternity leave, sickness and unemployment allowance according to the provisions of the Law.
