One of CUT’s priorities is excellence in research and to this purpose, it ensures to introduce policies and initiatives for researchers (both permanent staff and researchers on fixed term contract). Furthermore, at CUT, mobility is perceived as an important means of enhancing scientific knowledge and professional development for researchers at all career stages. This is evident in many of the initiatives undertaken by CUT, as follows:
- Start-Up Fund provided by CUT to the newcomers Permanent Teaching and Research Staff (PTR), gives the right to PTR to recruit researchers on fixed term contract (RFT), as well as to purchase infrastructure and laboratory equipment.
- Research Activity Fund provided to eligible staff for networking with other researchers or research organisations and for attending conferences and workshops abroad.
- Policy of Internal Small Individual Research Programs "PUMP PRIMING" to support new PTR at lower ranks (Lecturers and Assistant Professors) to undertake short-term research projects. The 1st call was on Dec 2021 and relevant calls will be undertaken once or twice a year.
- The EUROPE DIRECT Information Center hosted by the University, among other, provides information to the general public on employment and funding opportunities in Europe, assistance and advice on European issues as well as organises informative and educational workshops.
- Via the EUt project, there are multiple opportunities through the EUt research institutions for short research exchanges of researchers and inter university research projects.
- Since 2007 CUT has been participating in the European Mobility Program ERASMUS. Within the framework of the Program, academic staff (Permanent and Teaching Staff) as well as Researchers on a Fixed-term contract are given the opportunity for mobility either for education or training purposes.
- Members of the Permanent Teaching and Research Staff as well as researchers on fixed term contract participate in European MSCA Programs through which they are given the opportunity to be seconded and trained in collaborating organisations abroad.
