Message from the Coordinator of the Department of Shipping
Welcome to the Department of Shipping. The Department aims to become a leading academic hub in maritime and shipping studies through our unequivocal commitment to excellence in education, cutting-edge research, industry-driven consulting, and responsible citizenship. Despite only being in operations for 2 years we have made significant inroads by achieving full accreditation for the Department as well as our Bachelor, Masters and PhD Programmes from the Cyprus Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education.
Our learning philosophy is grounded in academic rigor and practical relevance. Through our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, we aim to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and global perspective required to lead in an increasingly complex and dynamic shipping industry. Our Faculty comprises renowned scholars with industry expertise who bring both theoretical insight and practical experience into the classroom.
Research is a core pillar of the Department of Shipping. We focus on a wide range of areas including maritime economics, logistics and supply chain management, port operations, shipping finance, sustainability, and digitalization in maritime transport. Our research not only advances academic knowledge but also informs policymaking and industry best practices.
We actively collaborate with international institutions, government bodies, and private enterprises to address real-world maritime challenges. Our Faculty are deeply engaged in consulting and professional development. Though our partnerships with other institutions we ensure that our academic work remains relevant and impactful.
Part of our Departmental mission is to contribute to the society at large. We are actively pursuing these goals through our MOUs with the Deputy Ministry of Shipping and other public and private institutions. In addition, we invite renowned academics to provide relevant seminars, actively pursue the facilitation of scholarship opportunities for excellent candidates in need and continue to promote the discipline of shipping at schools and through the organization of events such as the National Shipping Competition
Thank you for your interest in our Department. We invite students, researchers, and industry partners to join us in shaping the future of shipping through knowledge, innovation, and responsibility.
