Panagiota Miltiadous, BSc in General Biology (University of Crete, 2004), MSc in Molecular Medicine majoring in Neurobiology with project title «Neuroprotective effects of IGF-I following intrahippocampal kainic acid injection in the rat» (Medical School of the National University Athens, 2007) and PhD in Neurobiology entitled « The use of IGF-I in cell therapies of neurodegenerative diseases; A study using animal models» (Medical school of the National University of Athens, 2010). Since September 2010 she lectures theoretical and laboratory courses for the undergraduate course ‘Biology-Biochemistry’ and theoretical and laboratory courses for the undergraduate course ‘Microbiology and Infection control’. She is [...]a member of the ‘Health and Safety committee’ of the Nursing Department and a member of the ‘price offers’ evaluation committee’.

Her research interests focus in the field of microbiology concerning antibiotic agents of plant origin and their use in emergency situations. She also participates in a research program in the field of psycho-cognitive nursing intervention and its effects on clinical outcomes and biomarkers in critically. From 2005 to 2010 she secured funding from PENED 2003 and worked in the Biology Laboratory and Biochemistry Department of Nursing of the National University of Athens, under the supervision of Prof. Fotini Stylianopoulou, researching in the field of neurobiology, for a project studying stem cell transplantation in epilepsy models for cell therapy.

She has published in leading scientific journals, with high impact and announcements in local and international conferences (Greece, Germany, Spain, Holland, Canada). She is a member of scientific societies including ‘Greek Society for Neuroscience’, ‘Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS)’, ‘International Brain research Organization (IBRO)’.

Her teaching duties cover a wide range of subjects, such as biology, biochemistry and microbiology at undergraduate level.
