Dear Students and Colleagues,
I am contacting you to inform you about the progress the of academic programs so far and some aspects of how the evaluation of your performance in this semester's courses will be carried out.
On these topics, I have had many and extensive discussions over the last few days, through teleconferences, with the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Deans of Schools, Heads of Departments, and the Head of Studenr Services. Our student representatives also participated in the diacussions we had and the contribution from everyone was particularly positive and constructive.
All our courses in all curricula are offered remotely, on the basis of preparation made by Schools, Departments, Teachers and Services. In some cases where there were difficulties, solutions were found.
We have see all parties adapting and responding to all the factors which has exceeded our expectations. I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all and invite you all as we intensify our efforts in the coming weeks to complete the academic semester, for all curricula, according to the Spring 2020 academic calendar (May 2020).
Evaluation of each pending course element, including final exams, will be done remotely. The Moodle platform and other available online tools will be utilized based on the specifics of each course. Each Department and each academic will be given the opportunity to choose from a number of alternative formats of assessment, with a view to ensuring objectivity and credibility. The University has set up a central distance education support team available to academics and students.
The final exam program is already being prepared by the Student Services, in collaboration with each Department and based on the choices and needs of each program and course.
A detailed announcement will be issued after the Senate meeting which will take place via teleconference on April 8, 2020. A meeting of the Senate Studies committee will take place on April 3, 2020 for discussion and preparation recomendations to the senate.
For any questions you can contact the Student Services.
I urge all our students to continue and intensify their study of the subjects of each course, making use of all available resources and time remaining until the end of the semester.
Keep up the good work and stay home to be safe and healthy.
