Cyprus University of Technology is a member of this European University of Technology alliance, EUt+, with the ambition to create a new type of European university that is locally anchored in each of our regions and globally connected. This new model will help prepare technologically responsible citizens to face the unprecedented challenges of our time. With this project, the partners are committed to creating a sustainable future for the students and learners of European countries, the collaborators of each institution and for the territories hosting each campus.

With its complementarities, EUt+ draws on the strengths of each of its partners to create the university of technology of tomorrow.
Our vision and mission are underpinned by the pivotal role that technology plays in forging an inclusive and sustainable future: humanity today faces challenges of unprecedented breadth such as climate change, overused resources, growing inequality, and the social consequences of the digital era.
Answers to these challenges necessarily involve technology but they need to be multi-faceted. They must take into account the needs and aspirations of people and of our environment, they must be respectful of individual freedom and diversity.
This can only be achieved by empowering technologically responsible citizens, and researchers who fully comprehend the potential of technology as well as the risks of neglecting its purpose. This requires a fundamentally new approach to technology and the training of people to foster it. It requires a new model of university.
The radical changes that will have to take place require fundamentally new approaches to technology and training that structure the proposal to create the European University of Technology.
Strong student involvement
Within each university of the Alliance, students were actively involved in the development of the concept of the European University of Technology. Prior to the coronavirus crisis, exchange meetings were held in Darmstadt and Cluj-Napoca, so that the main stakeholders could share information and points of view. This ongoing exchange now continues at a distance.
On February 4th 2020, student representatives took the initiative of drafting and signing their own declaration setting out the main principles that they would like to see develop within EUt+.

What is a European University?
According to the European Commission's call for applications: European Universities are transnational alliances that will become the universities of the future, promoting European values and identity, and revolutionizing the quality and competitiveness of European higher education.
This project call, which closed on February 26th, is one of the EU's flagship initiatives aimed at building a European education area.
« There were many ways to respond to the European Commission's call. We have made an ambitious choice: the European University of Technology will be a completely new object. It is about creating an integral space where everyone can thrive, whether they are students, lecturers, researchers, staff, internal or external.
EUt+ is based on European values and nourishes them in turn: we want to participate actively in the development of European technology, a technology that carries and respects European values, serving mankind above all, respectful of its environment. Developing European technology means contributing to European sovereignty, to preserve and carry our values.
The European geography bears the diversity of the territories, it offers to each one an opening towards the other cultures, the pleasure to meet each other. Europe will have to be brought to the territories where people do not go looking for Europe spontaneously. »
