On Saturday September 26th, 2020 our very dear colleague and friend Vassos Soteriou passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a heart attack. He was only 44, and leaves behind his beloved wife Drazena and his newborn baby boy Alexandros.
Vassos is remembered by many people as an exceptional and unique human being, with a truly kind soul of the highest integrity and values. One could realize how special Vassos was only after a short discussion with him. A truly rare and real individual. He was at the top of intellectual thinking; a visionary who constantly pursued progress and excellence both academically and in all aspects of life; a bright and talented academic teacher and mentor; an exceptional scientist in love and passionate with research and science of the highest standards; a stimulating colleague; a truly great friend. Vassos’ passing is inconceivable.
We hope that this site of Remembrances & Condolences will allow his friends, colleagues and students share their tributes, and help them celebrate and honor him. Vassos was an Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics at the Cyprus University of Technology. He was a leading expert in the field of computer architecture, where he had made a number of profound contributions that will remain forever influential in the passage of time. He received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Rice University, Houston, Texas, in 2001, and Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, in 2006. His legacy will carry on with all the people he has influenced; friends, colleagues, students, researchers; his wife; his son.
Please consider donating in Vassos' memory here. The proceeds will be directly given to his wife Drazena: https://gogetfunding.com/in-memory-of-professor-vassos-soteriou/
