Marios Paschalidis
Visual Communication Designer and PhD Candidate, Cyprus University of Technology
Marios Paschalidis is an interdisciplinary visual communication designer and PhD candidate in the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts at Cyprus University of Technology. His practice is positioned at the intersection of graphic design, typography, and visual arts, with particular emphasis on living archives of visual communication in Cyprus.
Paschalidis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic and Advertising Design from Frederick University (2018–2022), where he graduated with the highest GPA in the Department of Arts and Communication and the third-highest GPA university-wide. He then completed a Master of Arts in Visual Arts and Interdisciplinary Design at the same university (2022–2024) with honors, receiving a merit-based postgraduate scholarship and the Best Thesis Award from the School of Arts, Communication, and Cultural Studies. He also holds a Master of Arts in Philosophy and Arts from the Hellenic Open University (2023–2025).
His visual communication work has been applied in numerous international initiatives across a wide range of venues, including BOZAR (Brussels), the Louvre Museum (Paris), Castel Sant’Angelo (Rome), Brussels Zaventem International Airport, the Council of the European Union (Brussels), the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (SPEL, Nicosia), the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the Saudi Arabian Tourism Authority (Riyadh), Limassol ArtWalks, the WIP Arts & Technology Festival (CYENS Centre of Excellence, Nicosia), and the EU-CONEXUS Festival (La Rochelle), among others. He has also contributed to the development of exhibitions, research projects, and educational materials for the European Union.
Paschalidis has been invited to present and discuss his practice in a range of academic and cultural contexts. His work has received international distinctions, honors, and awards from leading festivals, institutions, and organizations.
He is a member of Cyprus Association of Graphic Designers and Illustrators (CAGDI), the Semiotics & Visual Communication Lab (SVC Lab) and a partner of the nonprofit organization Sic. Contemporary Culture and the 15m² mobile exhibition platform.
