Two online training events focusing on entrepreneurship, business opportunities and skills development in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) took place on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, as part of the European research project COASTLINE (HORIZON-MSCA-2022-SE), in which the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) participates.

The events, entitled “Entrepreneurship” (Training Event 02) and “Business Opportunities with SMEs” (Training Event 03), were hosted by Aegean Solutions and Terra Marine and held online via Microsoft Teams.

The two training events aimed to strengthen collaboration between academia, research institutions and the business community, with particular emphasis on innovation, knowledge exchange and sustainable growth.

The first event, “Entrepreneurship”, focused on the fundamental principles of entrepreneurship and the processes involved in developing, organizing and managing a new business. Particular attention was given to the challenges associated with launching new business ventures and managing the financial risks involved in entrepreneurial activities.

The programme featured presentations by Infralabs, Scidrones, Terra Marine, Aegean Solutions and Science 2 Business, highlighting the links between entrepreneurship, research, technology and innovation.

The second event, “Business Opportunities with SMEs”, focused on training and skills development within small and medium-sized enterprises. It addressed internal barriers to employee training, as well as current and structural challenges affecting professional competence development.

The programme included presentations by academics and representatives of the business community, providing opportunities for knowledge exchange and the exploration of potential collaborations.

The COASTLINE Project Coordinator is Dr Apostolos Papakonstantinou, Assistant Professor of Cartography and Geoinformatics at the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics, School of Engineering and Technology, Cyprus University of Technology.
