Education: Dr Andreas Christofe (♂) holds a BSc/MSc degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki (1996). During his studies as well as his dissertation work, he was granted a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation (I.K.Y). In 2023, he obtained his PhD degree from the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) on Non-destructive Evaluation of Corrosion in Reinforced Concrete using Field Spectroscopy and Remote Sensing. He is a member of the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence.

Professional background/experience: After graduating, he was employed by Athinodorou Super Beton Ltd (1997-2008) as a chief civil engineer in [...]the field of design, production and quality control of ready-mix concrete. During his employment he focused on importing and introducing new technologies for ready-mix concrete to improve the use of raw materials and enhance production capabilities. He is a licensed contractor from The Council for the Registration and Control of Contractors in Cyprus since 2008 and he worked as a general manager in R & A Constructions Ltd dealing with large infrastructure projects. He had also worked as a senior consultant in the areas of Crisis and Disaster management as well as in Seismic Design of large infrastructure projects. In 2012- 2013, he was employed in the Department of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education of the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture. During his employment he was teaching several courses in civil and structural engineering. Since 2013, Andreas has joined CUT, and he participated in many research projects. Some of them are ATHENA (Remote Sensing Science Center for Cultural Heritage) funded from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, the Anagennisis project funded by the EU's FP7 programme in the field of Innovative Reuse of All Tyre Components in Concrete and the STEELCOR project funded by EC structural funds, which dealt with the corrosion in concrete steel reinforcement. From 12/2020 and 1/2021 he worked on ERA-CROSS “Monitoring & Identification of arable Crops in CypruS from Space”. He also participated in the PVrosion Integrated Project funded by the Research Promotion Foundation in the field of accelerated corrosion blind spots Inherent to photovoltaic Systems.

Research interests: His research focuses on the areas of corrosion in concrete steel reinforcement and the improvement of the structural integrity of Cyprus buildings. He is specialized on Remote Sensing monitoring technics for large concrete infrastructure health.
