CV

Georgios Constantinides holds a Bachelors Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from University College London (UCL). After graduating from UCL in 2000, he moved to the United States of America where he eventually received his Masters (MS), in 2002, and Doctorate (Ph.D.), in 2005, both in the area of Structures and Materials at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In the period 2006-2008 he was a post-doctorate associate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT, researching the contact deformation of thin polymeric films and nanocomposites employed in a variety of applications ranging from protective barriers to drug [...]delivery systems. His current research is primarily concerned with Mechanics of Solid Materials (i.e., ceramics, polymers, nanocomposites), with a particular focus on (1) chemo-mechanics and (2) nano/micro- and poro-mechanics of natural (shales, bones, tissues, etc.) and synthetic solids (polymeric thin films and nanocomposites, cementitious materials etc.)
