Graduates of the Nursing Department of the Cyprus Technological University are nursing scientists with comprehensive scientific theoretical and practical education and communication skills, interdisciplinary cooperation and research development skills and abilities of taking a leading role in the health sector in the 21st century.
The programme is designed to comply with the relevant nursing and university education legislation.
Additionally the programme is consistent with the EU guidance for Nursing while the country's policy including that relating to the National Health Plan have been taken into account.
The educational philosophy places the student at the center of learning. Students have different ways of learning and teaching is accomplished in an adult learning environment, which recognizes the individual educational needs and aspirations.
The learning process is achieved by the interaction and cooperation among teachers, students, clinical officers and health service users.
The development of critical thinking is the central element of the programme in general. The nursing skills and attitudes are strongly encouraged, assisted and facilitated. The programme reflects a high level of clinical competence.
Students are encouraged to develop critical analysis skills of the existing applied regular nursing and health care practices. The lifelong learning practice is cultivated while a variety of teaching and learning methods is applied promoting thus the development of independent learning of the nurses. This is especially important because their learning is based on extensive scientific basis of relevant theory and research, including the acquisition of clinical decision-making ability and problem solving skills.
