Christiana Nicolaou, RN (School of Nursing, Cyprus, 1985), BSc (Honours) in Professional Studies -Nurse Education- (Anglia Polytechnic University, UK, 1997), Certificate in Teaching and Learning Methodology (Pedagogical Institute of Cyprus, 2001), PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (Cyprus University of Technology, 2015), joined the Department of Nursing, School of Health Sciences, Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) in September 2007 as Senior Lecturer. Currently she is Assistant Professor (since 2011), and she is responsible for the module of Pediatric Nursing Care (NUR 353) in the undergraduate program, and the module of Advanced Nursing Care of Neonates and Children (NUR 525) in MSc [...]Advanced Nursing and Health Care Practice of the Department of Nursing, CUT. She also teaches and assess undergraduate students in laboratories of Biostatistics. She participates in the teaching in the Doctoral program of the Department of Nursing, CUT and elsewhere. She is elected member of the Council of the Department of Nursing (CUT) and recently she was elected member of the Council of the School of Health Sciences and CUT Senate for two terms. She participates in several ad hoc committees of the Department and elsewhere. Prior to that she was a tenured Nurse Teacher in the School of Nursing, Cyprus (1994 - 2007). She worked as a Staff Nurse in Pediatric Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Archbishop Makarios Hospital III, Nicosia, 1987 - 1994) and in a Gynecological and Midwifery Clinic, Nicosia (1986-1987).

Her research interests fall within the sphere of the promotion of parental and child health, particularly with respect to health literacy, vaccine hesitancy, antibiotic use and also the epidemiological studies related to: social support, social capital, health-related quality of life, socio-environmental health determinants, social environment, natural environment and epidemiology of chronic diseases e.g. rheumatic diseases. Her research projects and publications are focused on this field.

Currently, she participates in the research project SAFEST, tittle: “Tackling anti-vaccination: mapping the Social transmission of beliefs and attitudes”, funded by: Research Promotion Foundation Programmes for Research, Technological Development and Innovation “RESTART 2016-2020 PROGRAMMES”, and also in the research project rECORD Epidemiological Community study of Rheumatic Diseases which investigates the prevalence of rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders in Cyprus, funded by Ministry of Health, MSD, Medochemie and others (Stakeholders: Cyprus Rheumatology Society, Cyprus Antirheumatic Association, Medical School of University of Nicosia). Recently she participated in the research project “COVID-19 IMPACT Study”, an international online survey which assessed the behavioral and psychological impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic of nearly 10,000 participants from 78 countries. She participated also in the research project “Baby Buddy Forward” (Erasmus +: Adult Education, 2017-2020) which developed the “Baby Buddy Cyprus”, a digital resource for enhancing parental health literacy (eHealth Literacy) during the transition to parenthood.

She is the main PhD advisor of two doctoral students and she is also a member of other PhD and MSc advising committees and she supervises several other Master and undergraduate dissertations in CUT.

Christiana Nicolaou, RN (School of Nursing, Cyprus, 1985), BSc (Honours) in Professional Studies -Nurse Education- (Anglia Polytechnic University, UK, 1997), Certificate in Teaching and Learning Methodology (Pedagogical Institute of Cyprus, 2001), PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (Cyprus University of Technology, 2015), joined the Department of Nursing, School of Health Sciences, Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) in September 2007 as Senior Lecturer. Currently she is Assistant Professor (since 2011), and she is responsible for the module of Pediatric Nursing Care (NUR 353) in the undergraduate program, and the module of Advanced Nursing Care of Neonates and Children (NUR 525) in MSc Advanced Nursing and Health Care Practice of the Department of Nursing, CUT. She also teaches and assess undergraduate students in laboratories of Biostatistics. She participates in the teaching in the Doctoral program of the Department of Nursing, CUT and elsewhere. She is elected member of the Council of the Department of Nursing (CUT) and recently she was elected member of the Council of the School of Health Sciences and CUT Senate for two terms. She participates in several ad hoc committees of the Department and elsewhere. Prior to that she was a tenured Nurse Teacher in the School of Nursing, Cyprus (1994 - 2007). She worked as a Staff Nurse in Pediatric Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Archbishop Makarios Hospital III, Nicosia, 1987 - 1994) and in a Gynecological and Midwifery Clinic, Nicosia (1986-1987).

Her research interests fall within the sphere of the promotion of parental and child health, particularly with respect to health literacy, vaccine hesitancy, antibiotic use and also the epidemiological studies related to: social support, social capital, health-related quality of life, socio-environmental health determinants, social environment, natural environment and epidemiology of chronic diseases e.g. rheumatic diseases. Her research projects and publications are focused on this field.

Currently, she participates in the research project SAFEST, tittle: “Tackling anti-vaccination: mapping the Social transmission of beliefs and attitudes”, funded by: Research Promotion Foundation Programmes for Research, Technological Development and Innovation “RESTART 2016-2020 PROGRAMMES”, and also  in the research project  rECORD Epidemiological Community study of Rheumatic Diseases which investigates the prevalence of rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders in Cyprus, funded by Ministry of Health, MSD, Medochemie and others (Stakeholders: Cyprus Rheumatology Society, Cyprus Antirheumatic Association, Medical School of University of Nicosia). Recently she participated in the research project “COVID-19 IMPACT Study”, an international online survey which assessed the behavioral and psychological impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic of nearly 10,000 participants from 78 countries. She participated also in the research project “Baby Buddy Forward” (Erasmus +: Adult Education, 2017-2020) which developed the “Baby Buddy Cyprus”, a digital resource for enhancing parental health literacy (eHealth Literacy) during the transition to parenthood.

She is the main PhD advisor of two doctoral students and she is also a member of other PhD and MSc advising committees and she supervises several other Master and undergraduate dissertations in CUT.
