His research interests fall within the sphere of mental health (e.g depression). His research interest is focused on the detection of mental disorders in children, adolescents and post-teenage, young adults, and the elderly aimed at early diagnosis, intervention and improving their quality of life.
At the same time, his research devoted to the evaluation and improvement of public sector mental health services for people affected by severe mental disorders, serious emotional disturbances and/or addictions. Specifically, his research focuses on working in diverse areas, including public policy, epidemiology, neurobiology, and the treatment of addictive disorders.
His research interest is also focused on the assessment of Vocational Health Professionals' health, in relation to their working conditions at individual and organizational level, aiming at improving the quality of health care provided.

Sokrates Sokratous processes a Diploma in General Nursing (Nursing School, Cyprus, 1989-1993), Degree in Nursing with Education (Anglia Polytechnic University, UK, 1993-1994), Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Anglia Polytechnic University, 1994), Degree in Primary Education (University of Athens, Greece, 2000-2003), Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing (Nursing School, Cyprus, 2004-2005), Master in Management in Health (Open University, Cyprus, 2006- 2009), Ph.D. in Mental Health Nursing (Cyprus University of Technology, 2010 - 2014). He joined the Department of Nursing, Health Sciences, University of Technology in 2008 as a Lecturer and then as a senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing. Today he is Assistant Professor. He is the Erasmus coordinator for the Nursing Department of CUT. Previously he was employed at the School of Nursing in Nicosia, Ministry of Health, as a Lecturer in Nursing (1994 - 2008).
