- To develop nursing scientists characterized by a complete education and ability to practice nursing safely and responsibly as well as by a high level of clinical competence in various health care facilities.
- To enable students to fully benefit from university education by cultivating the personal, intellectual, social and political development and awareness, which in turn allows them to study and practice nursing in order to contribute positively to both the nursing work and the society.
- To develop nursing scientists who undertake leadership roles in care services and promote health.
- To encourage and develop lifelong learning and to support continuous professional and scientific nursing development.
- To develop registered nurses who are professionally regulated, research oriented and demonstrate the ability to be constantly updated and critically evaluate the new knowledge.
- To prepare registered nurses who implement practice, justified based on research data.
Graduates of the Department of Nursing of the Cyprus Technological University will:
- Practice nursing offering a high level of knowledge and skills and being able to work independently, as members of a multidisciplinary team and in cooperation with the users of health services.
- Demonstrate understanding of holistic needs of health service consumers in a multicultural health environment, practice nursing without discrimination and recognize the importance of equality and social participation in health services.
- Show skills in communication and sensitivity to the psychosocial needs of health service users.
- Be politically, legally and ethically updated and will respond appropriately to changes in health care practices.
- Document the nursing practice by modern science data with regard to needs assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
- Contribute effectively in public health matters in order to meet the needs of 21st century population having full understanding of the social, demographic and technological development as well as developments in health care.
- Demonstrate critical analysis and critical review skills in academic work and clinical practice.
- Possess leadership skills and work effectively within the parameters set by the European Union and Cyprus legislation.
- Recognize and respond to the interrelationship of practice, theory and research during provision of high quality care.
