The 4th cycle (2024) of the Industry Exchange Network (IXN) program was successfully completed within the scope of a signed agreement between the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and the University College London (UCL) UK in 2021 (https://www.cut.ac.cy/news/article/?contentId=443150). The IXN programme promotes the sustained participation of students in the development of authentic projects assigned by various industry organizations, following the guidelines and specifications of the programme. Students have the opportunity to work on ‘proofs of concept’ that solve real-life problems, equipping them with industry experience and cultivating their career readiness.
During the Fall 2024 IXN cycle, our students worked on innovative projects in collaboration with two commercial companies, one non-profit organization, and one municipal initiative. These partnerships resulted in the design and development of the following projects:
- ODD - Office of Displaced Designers: A platform supporting displaced and marginalized designers by empowering their communities through creative projects.
- SummerCliff AI property: An AI-powered property search platform designed to enhance and personalize the property search experience.
- Limassol Municipality’s EU Mission Cities Initiative: A microsite presenting Limassol’s strategic plan to achieve climate neutrality by 2030.
- FXPrimus: A financial trading platform, redesigned to improve user experience and accessibility.
These IXN projects and their outcomes aim to strengthen students’ ability to apply user experience (UX) principles and web design methods in real-world scenarios (active/situated learning), enabling them to deliver impactful solutions across various sectors.
