CUT participates in the OenoWatch project

Νέα-Ανακοινώσεις

The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) participates in the "OenoWatch" project, an Integrated Project under the Restart 2016-2020 Program of the Research & Innovation Foundation of Cyprus.

The CUT team consists of researchers from the Department of Civil Engineering and Geoinformatics under the coordination of Professor Phaedon Kyriakidis.

The OenoWatch project aims to study, develop, implement, and pilot a holistic phytosanitary and plant protection system based on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, a series of cutting-edge technologies, and the establishment of a Competence Center for Precision Viticulture. During the project, a prototype UAS will be constructed equipped with airborne sensors to produce remote sensing-based agricultural indices for the vineyards monitored Thanks to timely diagnosis and targeted application of plant protection, the environmental damage will be reduced while achieving better health conditions for wine-growing professionals (due to the remote monitoring of pesticides).

The OenoWatch Project Consortium also includes the European University of Cyprus, ‘DRONINT,’ EUROSUCCESS Consulting, the Development Agency of Lemesos, and the Cypriot Winery Ekfraseis.
