According to the Students Welfare Law of 2015 (L. 203 (I)/2015) (in Greek), the Republic of Cyprus provides financial support to families of students based on socio-economic criteria.

The families of students, may take, under certain conditions, the following two forms of financial support:

• Student sponsorship – Cyprus permanent residents (in Greek)
• Student allowances – Cyprus permanent residents (in Greek)
• Student allowances – Students from Greece & Repatriated Cypriots (in Greek)

Competent authority for granting the sponsorships and student allowances is the Service of Student Welfare, of the Directorate of Higher and Tertiary Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
