Theopisti Stylianou-Lambert is an artist and researcher, serving as a Professor in the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts at the Cyprus University of Technology. She is also the co-leader of the "ITICA/Museum Lab" at CYENS Centre of Excellence. Her research and artistic practice focus on museum studies and visual sociology, with a particular emphasis on photography and emerging technologies.
She has an extensive publication record on topics related to museums and photography. She co-authored “The Political Museum” (Routledge, 2016) and edited notable volumes such as “Museums and Technologies of Presence” (Routledge, 2023), “Museums and Emerging
[...]Technologies: Mediating Difficult Heritage” (Berghahn Books, 2022), “Museums and Visitor Photography” (MuseumsEtc, 2016), “Museums and Photography: Displaying Death” (Routledge, 2017), and “Photography and Cyprus: Time, Place, Identity” (I.B.Tauris, 2014).
Theopisti earned her PhD in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester (UK) and an MA in Visual Arts from the University of Texas at Austin (USA). She has been recognized with prestigious awards and fellowships, including a Smithsonian Fellowship in Museum Practice (USA), a Fulbright Fellowship (USA), and an Arts and Humanities Research Council Award (UK). She serves on the advisory committees of the peer-reviewed journals “photographies” and “Visitor Studies” and is a founding member of the International Association of Photography and Theory. Her artistic work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions in Cyprus and internationally, underscoring her contributions to both the academic and creative fields.
