Stelios Stylianou (PhD in Sociology, University of Washington-Seattle, 2000; MA in Sociology, University of Washington-Seattle, 1996; BA with Highest Honors in Sociology, Hofstra University, 1993; Diploma in Education, Pedagogical Academy of Cyprus, 1989) is an associate professor in the Department of Communication and Internet Studies at the Cyprus University of Technology. He has taught various undergraduate and graduate subjects in sociology, criminology and social research methodology as a graduate lecturer at the University of Washington (1996-2000), part-time lecturer at the University of Cyprus (2000-2003) and as full time research and teaching faculty at Intercollege (2000-2007), the University of Nicosia (2007-2010) [...]and the Cyprus University of Technology (2010- ). His research has a strong methodological component and it is predominantly located in the substantive areas of social deviance, crime and social control. His recent research projects include the study of juvenile delinquency, the epidemiology of drug use, rave parties and the use of synthetic substances and the use of political symbols by young people in the public sphere. He has published articles in international journals and a book on juvenile delinquency in Cyprus (University of Nicosia Press, 2007).
