MSc in Electronic Science and Technology

Structure

This is a joint MSc between the Cyprus University of Technology and the Hangzhou Dianzi University in China. The program targets to deliver specialists in the cross-cutting field of Electronic Science and Technology. Our graduates have solid theoretical knowledge, be able to do research independently, trace the latest development of technologies at home and abroad, conduct advanced techniques in research and problem-solving, read and compose technical papers, engage in international exchange, and be full of team spirit and professionalism.

The main objectives of the program are to:

  • Enable graduates to develop the ability to conduct scientific research at the highest level.
  • Promote the development and consolidation at the highest level of fundamental concepts and knowledge in electronic engineering.
  • Promote the pursuit of graduate studies in postgraduate doctoral degrees as well as their active involvement in independent research.
  • Develop the ability to write and publish work and produce research work.
  • Develop the ability for an independent and inventive approach in matters of modeling and design of electronic engineering systems.

 

Program duration

This is a 3 years degree, split between Cyprus and China. The program follows a 1+1+1 year structure.

The first academic year is dedicated on course teaching and all students study at HDU in China. At the end of the first year, students need to submit a thesis proposal in coordination with teaching staff at CUT. The second academic year is spent at CUT for scientific research and completion of the thesis under the supervision of CUT staff. At the end of the second year, the students will have a mid-examination of their thesis work.

In the third academic year, students shall complete practical scientific and technological work as an extension of their thesis research, including publishing one or more professional-related academic papers, or applying a patent or issued one practical patent. In addition, students shall continue to finalize the dissertation, submission for review, and defense to meet HDU's graduation requirements.

Admission

Applicants must have a recognized University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics, or other related disciplines is required with a minimum cumulative average 6.5/10. The degree should be awarded by an accredited institution in the country where it operates, or a degree evaluated as equivalent to University degree by the Cyprus Council for the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (KYSATS). Undergraduate students that are about to graduate can apply for a master’s program, considering that they expect to receive their University degree before the commencement of the master’s program. The offered position to a student who has not submitted all required certificates by the end of the week. Preceding the week of enrollment is offered to the next student in the waiting list.

Applications (early) should be submitted electronically, using the online application system of the University, Student Portal by the 31st of March of each year.

The application requirements are the following:

  1. A copy of a valid passport or Civil ID
  2. A brief Personal Statement of goals and research interests (up to 500 words)
  3. Curriculum vitae
  4. Copies of University degrees or a confirmation letter which declares that the candidate is expected to graduate before the onset of the postgraduate program.
  5. Copies of Academic Transcripts
  6. Any other certificates and documents, such as samples of relevant academic or professional work (publications, articles, portfolios etc.)
  7. Interview (for cases that do not have complete data)
  8. Proof of English proficiency: Acceptable proofs of knowledge of the English language are G.C.E/ I.G.C.S.E exams, Ο level with a grade of at least C or ELTS/ IELTS with grade of at least 6.5 or ΤOEFL with grade of at least 580 (paper-based test)/82 (internet-based test), minimum English requirements of the Chinese Graduate Entrance Examination. Graduates of an English speaking University will not have to provide proof of English language knowledge.
  9. Reference letters are not required. Instead, the potential    candidates are requested to provide the names of two referees to be contacted by the Postgraduate evaluation committee.

All documents that are not in English or Greek should be accompanied by an official translation.
