Atalanti Christou received her BSc in Chemistry, specializing in Environmental and Food Chemistry, and her PhD from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cyprus (UCY). She served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Chemistry at UCY and the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, and Food Science at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). As a postdoctoral researcher, she contributed to research projects funded by the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation, UCY, and CUT. At the same time, she worked as a Special Teaching Scientist at CUT.
Her research and expertise are focused on: (1) the
[...]development and application of analytical separation techniques for the identification and quantification of primary and secondary metabolites in food and other matrices, (2) the optimization of extraction and sample pre-treatment processes, (3) the application of chemometrics and advanced data analysis techniques, (4) the evaluation of the bioactivity of natural products and foods of plant origin, and (5) the utilization of agricultural and food industry by-products/waste for the development of added-value substances. Her research results have been published in prestigious scientific journals and presented at international scientific conferences.
