Ο Γιώργος Κούντιος είναι γεωπόνος-απόφοιτος της Σχολής Γεωπονίας Δασολογίας και Φυσικού Περιβάλλοντος του ΑΠΘ. Είναι κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού (Msc) και διδακτορικού τίτλου (Phd) στην Αγροτική Οικονομία. Κατά τη διάρκεια της εκπόνησης της μεταπτυχιακών του σπουδών, εργάστηκε ως επιστημονικός συνεργάτης στον Τομέα της Αγροτικής Οικονομίας της Γεωπονικής Σχολής ΑΠΘ. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέρονται και το δημοσιευμένο του έργο εστιάζεται στην αγροτική οικονομία και στις νέες τεχνολογίες στη γεωργία, ενώ έχει εργαστεί σε διάφορα ερευνητικά προγράμματα τόσο στον ιδιωτικό όσο και στο δημόσιο τομέα.
