The Role: the Junior Chartering Manager position within the Shipping department is an excellent opportunity to learn from scratch from the commodities traders in the company and understand how competitive freights work.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting Chartering Managers and commodities traders by providing up to date information on markets and latest fixtures, as well as competitive freights for spot and forward business.
• Assist colleagues within the Freight department to ensure seamless collaboration and communication.
• Support in the preparation of contracts, negotiating terms, and coordinating with global operations teams and colleagues.
• Focusing on time/voyage chartering to enhance the company's operational efficiency.
• Help in all aspects of voyage and time chartering, including operations involvement if required.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with brokers, owners, customers, agents, and service providers.
• Reporting to the line manager for regular meetings and updates. Candidate Background: This role offers an opportunity for a highly driven individual.
Ideal candidates should possess:
•A degree in Maritime Studies, or related fields that provides a strong foundation for understanding industry-specific demands.
• 0-2 years of experience in the Dry Bulk Chartering sector
• Basic/Good understanding and experience with vessel operations and pricing.
• Basic/Good understanding of commercial shipping contracts and of maritime law.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, demonstrating exceptional organizational and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of building cross-functional relationships and collaborating effectively in a global team setting.
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
•Multilingual Skills (Optional): Given the international nature of the work, fluency in additional languages, especially those relevant to key trading regions, can be a plus.
Willingness to Travel on Short Notice: The role involves collaboration across international markets, so readiness for occasional, short-notice travel may be required to meet operational needs.
