The Art+Design: elearning lab hosts two events presented by Dr. Ana Margarida Ferreira

Νέα-Ανακοινώσεις

1. Workshop title (Thursday 14th November 2019, 9am – 12pm, Classroom EAT, Roussos Building): "Creating Design Educational Monsters? Co-designing future scenarios through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) lens”.
Based on the premise that designers have an important role as agents of change and could be creators of a happier future if skilled enough to deal with uncertainty, complexity and ill-structured problems in an innovative and interdisciplinary way, the workshop will explore and open to discussion the skills, methods, and partnerships for design to achieve such a change. In a participatory way and with the lens of the SDGs, it will be explored how Design Education could play a part in preparing the future generation of designers to tackle social innovation and sustainability problems. In a previous and similar workshop in Merida, Spain, the results showed the students’ understanding of the future of design and the possibilities for improvement in a system that struggles to be resilient and respond at a faster pace.

Keywords: Design Education, Participatory Approach, Social Innovation, Sustainable Development Goals, Sustainability.

2. Lecture title (lecture on Friday 15th , 9am – 12pm, Classroom EAT, Roussos Building): "Co-designing make us strong. Interdisciplinary and human centered approaches to cope with societal challenges: migrants, refugees and other case studies".
In line with the last year presentation, we will show and discuss some case studies developed by Portuguese students from IADE university (Portugal) in a collaborative and interdisciplinary way. Emphasizing the relevance of developing innovative and sustainable solutions to complex contemporary problems and envisioning the communities´ resilience as a whole, the advantages and challenges of scaling up those models of action to Cyprus will also be drawn.
