TSYS is seeking Database Engineers to join our PRIME Data Engineering team, who will innovate and engineer solutions in the area of database technology. The Data Engineering team is actively engaged in the ongoing PRIME database engineering process, partnering with the PRIME development groups and providing deep subject matter expertise input as stakeholders to design reviews, and as an advocate for bringing forward and resolving customer issues. This engagement may extend to other development teams outside PRIME. The DE team is also involved in many modernization initiatives around the database technology, and such interaction and involvement with AWS is given.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with mission critical database applications with Oracle databases.
  • Design & develop scalable architectures for application features.
  • Design complex sql queries and tune for performance.
  • Automation of repetitive tasks using python, docker, Jenkins etc.
  • Documentation to help automated tools in Confluence.
  • Analysis of defects (prod/uat/qa) and provide solutions/fix.
  • Willingness to seek & learn new trends especially around AWS.
  • Willingness to educate/train others.
  • Ability to drive the team in the right direction.
  • Making sure committed deliverables are met well within stipulated duration.
  • Looking for improvement opportunities across all supported platforms.

Key Requirements:

  • Education:  MCA, MSc, BSc, B.Tech or B.E (four year college degree) or equivalent & above.
  • 3-5 years of experience with PRIME and/or Online Databases.
  • PRIME and/or Online Database Development experience.
  • Expertise in automating tasks.

Technical Skills (required):

  • Deep knowledge and experience designing and maintaining relational databases, mainly Oracle.
  • Experience developing and supporting complex mission-critical production database systems.
  • Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability and scalability.
  • Experience analyzing issues holistically, from the application tier through the database, down to the storage.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and approaches in IT.
  • Working knowledge of relational database internals (locking, consistency, serialization, recovery paths).
  • Coding skills in PL/SQL.
  • Excellent SQL and DB performance tuning skills. Oracle Tuning (OEM, ASH/AWR reports, Workload Repository).
  • Oracle Golden Gate.
  • Oracle RDS.
  • Proven track record of automating tasks.
  • Root cause analysis of production-related database issues.
  • On-call for PRIME production databases - daily maintenance, monitoring, problem resolution and internal customer and dev support.
  • Track record of engineering performance and availability solutions.

Technical Skills (added advantage):

  • Experience with other Data Persistence platforms: RDBMS (Postgres, Oracle, MySQL), Distributed SQL Engines (Cassandra, Foundation DB, Cockroach DB), NoSQL (Mongo DB), Hadoop, Data and Software Migration off/to RDBMS, AWS DBs (RDS, DynamoDB, EMR, Redshift, Aurora, etc.), Data Information Lifecycle Management, Data Security, Big Data etc.
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (shell, Python, Perl).
  • Working with one or more streaming platforms, such as Apache Kafka, Spark Streaming, Storm, or AWS Kinesis.
  • Exposure to cloud environments and architectures.
  • Experienced in various Clustering and Sharding architectures.
  • Experience in Kubernetes will be a plus.
