Test Specialist

An opportunity has arisen for a Test Specialist to join our international team in Nicosia.

We are seeking a highly skilled Test Specialist to join our dynamic team in the payments industry. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our applications, ensuring that developed software under test meet technical and business requirements.

As a Test Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining test plans, scenarios and test cases covering both technical and business requirements, to ensure that all software products meet the highest standards of quality before they are deployed. In addition, it is expected that the Test Specialist will execute test cases, identify and retest defects raised, and generate defect resolution and test result reports for each test cycle.

You will, drive the execution of testing initiatives that align with the organization's objectives. Your expertise in both manual and ideally automated testing will guide the successful delivery of projects, while your good understanding of payments will allow you to effectively address any challenges faced.

You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across technical and business departments to identify testing requirements and ensure that all deliverables are met on time. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and implement testing plans, schedule, scenarios and test cases covering all requirements in scope as well as closure reports.
  • Coordinate testing activities across multiple clients and projects, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Execute and oversee both manual and automated testing processes to validate software functionality and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers and project managers to identify and resolve issues early in the development cycle.
  • Conduct risk assessments and prioritize testing efforts based on project requirements and potential impact on business operations.
  • Promote best practices within the testing team.

 

Essential requirements for the role:

  • 7+ years relevant experience in IT/Payments/Bank/Finance domain
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Fluent spoken and written English communication skills, including listening skills
  • Confident client-facing communication and collaboration skills, able to schedule and lead discussions relating to progress on testing and defect resolution
  • Proven experience in a senior Test role, preferably within the payments, banking or financial services industry
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, testing tools (e.g. JIRA), and best practices for software development
  • Exposure to NFR (Performance & Resiliency) testing engagements and delivery
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a focus on achieving results
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including testing progress, defect management, technical discussions, project clarifications and address concerns
  • Ability to manage all testing phases for a project, including Test Planning, Test Design, Test Execution, and Test Closure
  • Willingness to travel on occasion is essential.

 

Desirable requirements for the role:

 

  • Experience in creating and implementing test automation strategies, automated testing methodologies, and approaches, tools, techniques (unit, functional, integration), executing automated test suites, and debugging test failures
  • Good understanding of the Payment Industry including testing of Scheme Compliance
  • Demonstrates some proficiency and knowledge in database SQL querying
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Automation testing tools and test automation frameworks
  • Programming languages such as Java or equivalent
  • CI/CD tools (e.g Jenkins) automation workflows
  • Load testing tools such as Loadrunner, jMeter & K6
  • Rest APIs testing (e.g Postman).
  • Basic understanding of cloud computing (preferably AWS)
  • ISEB / ISTQB Certification or equivalent.
