Temporary discontinuance of studies during the semester

A student may apply for a Temporary Discontinuance of Studies during the semester, if serious reasons are applicable.

The student submits an electronic application which is available from the first till the last day of lessons (the academic calendar for each year is available HERE).

In order for any request to be examined it must be accompanied by relevant documents proving the reasons for the request (the documents must be attached to the electronic form).

If the application is submitted for medical reasons the Academic Affairs and Student Welfare Service, will forward them to the Medical Board of the University, The Senate empowers a three-member Committee with the Head of the Academic Affairs and Student Welfare Service to examine the applications and submit a recommendation to the Senate for decision taking.

A request for discontinuance of studies may only be submitted for the semester during which the application is submitted. An academic semester during which the student has interrupted his/her studies is not calculated as part the student's time of attendance.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The submission of an application does not automatically mean that the discontinuance of studies has been granted. Unless the reasons for which the application was submitted prevent the student from attending his/her lessons (in which case he/she must inform his/her Academic Department, his/her instructors and the Studies Office), he/she must continue to attend all his/her lessons untill he/she i s formally informed about the outcome of his/her application.
