RESEARCH FELLOW (POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER) POSITION

Applications are invited from candidates who possess the necessary qualifications in order to fill one (1) Research Fellow position (Postdoctoral Researcher) at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering and Informatics (EECEI) in the field of “Resource Management in the Cloud, Edge, and IoT Continuum”.

Brief Description: Recent technological advancements have enabled the interconnection of heterogeneous IoT devices, edge devices, and the cloud in a common network. This allows for the deployment and execution of data-driven applications using distributed computing resources, reducing the need for cloud centralization but introducing various scheduling and management challenges. The goal is to develop novel artificial intelligence (AI)-based distributed algorithms for automating the management of computing resources management as well as the dynamic resources reconfiguration to meet application requirements.

Applicants should have:

• A Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) from a recognized university in one or a combination of the following fields of study: Distributed Systems, Cloud Computing, Edge Computing, Computer Networks, Internet of Things Technologies, Data Management Systems, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence
• Programming experience in a high-level programming language (e.g., Python, Java)
• Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
• Organizational skills

The following will be considered as an advantage:

• Experience in preparing, submitting, and managing research projects.

Τhe appointment will be from 2 September 2024 until 31 December 2024, with the prospect of renewal for nineteen (19) months. The monthly gross salary for the position will be € 2690,64 according to current legislation. From this amount, employee contributions to Government Funds as well as Income Tax will be deducted, according to the legislation into effect. It is noted that there is provision for 13th salary (the cost of the 13th salary has been proportionally incorporated in the monthly remuneration as analyzed above).
