Mechanical Engineer

The incumbent holding this role is assisting in the workshop operations, including amongst others the machinery repairs, service and maintenance of all plant machinery and equipment.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures the workshop’s smooth operation at all times
  • Ensures the effective management and development of people, in line with the Group’s Leadership and Management Competency Framework
  • Coordinates and oversees all technical activities in relation to the repair, service and maintenance of all plant, machinery and equipment
  • Supervising workshop technicians
  • Troubleshooting machine malfunctions
  • Ensures that all plant, machinery and equipment is maintained proactively according to manufacturers' recommendations and liaises with the Workshop Manager regarding the machine repair schedule
  • Ensures the good condition, safety and proper use of all machinery and equipment use at work so as to mitigate any health-related risks to employees
  • Ensures the regular testing and maintenance of all the tools equipment of the workshop, the emergency repair work and safe work methods, so as to protect people working and avoid any environmental impact
  • Ensures compliance with the corporate, health and safety management system; prepares develops and reviews the project health and safety plan
  • Ensures in co-operation with the Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Manager, the identification of hazards at the plant and the implementation of appropriate control measures to mitigate risks
  • Co-operates with the Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Officer and ensures that his/her recommendations for control measures are implemented accordingly
  • Observes the Statutory, Contractual and Company requirements with regards to Quality, Health, Safety, Security and the Environment and abides by any rules applicable to his/her scope of work
  • Promotes the policy for QHSSE and ensures that his/her acts or omissions do not harm the health and safety of himself/herself, others or the environment
  • General:
    • Keeping abreast with developments related to own role
    • Other responsibilities and project related work as defined in the Group’s procedures or as instructed by the Workshop Manager
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other departments
