Complaints/Objections/Appeals

For complaints and objections related to academic matters (teaching and enrollment), students can address their academic advisor and/or the chair of their respective department (via the department's secretary).

They can also approach the Department Council or committees through the Student Union and/or elected student representatives. In case their concerns are not resolved, they can turn to the Head of their School or Faculty or members of the Rector's Council.

For complaints and objections related to support services and processes, such as the timetable, the state of facilities, the library, information systems, etc., students can contact the relevant administrative services.

Most administrative processes at the University include mechanisms for submitting objections, which are detailed in the relevant announcements.

Student Ombuds

The institution of the Student Ombuds was established based on the provisions of the Technological University of Cyprus (Student Affairs and Study Affairs) Regulation of 2015, specifically Article 30, "Student Rights."

The purpose of the Student Ombuds is to mediate between students and academic or administrative services of the University, to ensure legality within the framework of academic freedom, to address instances of abuse of power, and any form of harassment against students. The Student Ombuds does not have jurisdiction over matters related to exams and grading. Specifically, the Student Ombuds investigates cases, either self-initiated or upon a student's report, and mediates with the relevant University bodies to resolve them. Detailed information is presented in the attached Regulation (https://www.cut.ac.cy/digitalAssets/100/100801_100sunigoros_foititi.pdf), as approved by the Senate during its 168th meeting and based on decisions in the 18th meeting of the Academic Affairs, Library, and Student Life Committee and the 49th meeting of the Internal Quality Committee, following similar international practices.

This institution, by its nature, aims to cultivate a culture of positive communication among our community members and convert potential disagreements into creative synthesis of opinions, without conflicts. At the same time, it helps in defending the rights of our students.

All the details about the Student Ombuds institution and the means of communication are available in the specially designed section of the University's website here: https://www.cut.ac.cy/students_ombust/
