CYPRUS UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

RESEARCH FELLOW POSITIONS (POSTGRADUATE ASSOCIATES/ASSISTANT RESEARCHERS A’ OR B’ - R1* OR POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHERS – R2* OR SPECIAL SCIENTISTS FOR RESEARCH – RESEARCHERS C – R2*)
Applications are invited from candidates who possess the necessary qualifications in order to fill five (5) Research Fellow positions (Postgraduate Associates – Assistant Researchers A’ or B – R1*, or Postdoctoral Researchers-R2* or Special Scientists for Research – Researchers C’ – R2*) at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Informatics for full-time or part-time employment in a European research program in the field of "Quantum Networks."
Successful candidates will work on a €7.5 million research project aimed at developing Cyprus' national quantum network. Depending on qualifications, there are opportunities to engage in the following topics:
- Development of network orchestration software, including the design and implementation of algorithms for optimal resource utilization.
- Installation and evaluation of quantum networks and the combination of quantum and classical cryptosystems.
- Research on the development of innovative methods and systems for quantum communication in optical fibers.
- Research and development of post-quantum cryptosystems.

Applicants should have:
For the position of Special Scientist for Research/Researcher C
- A Bachelor's and Master's degree from a recognized university in related fields (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics)
- Conducting independent research or as part of a team in a specialized filed of the subject
- Participation in writing research proposals to attract funding in the subject
- 5 or more years of related work experience
- Organizational skills
- Very good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written)
For the position of Post-Doctoral Researchers:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree and a Doctoral degree from a recognized university in related fields (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics)
- Experience with programming languages such as Python
- Organizational skills
- Very good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written)
For the position of Post-Graduate Associates (Assistant Researcher A):
1. A Bachelor's and Master's degree from a recognized university in related fields (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics)
2. Very good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written)
For the position of Post-Graduate Associates (Assistant Researcher B):
- A Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in related fields (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics)
- Very good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written)
For all positions, any knowledge or experience in the following areas is desirable and will be considered an additional qualification:
- Experience with optical research laboratories.
- Development of software for handling and orchestrating equipment.
- Development of software or algorithms for communication networks.
- Quantum communications.
- Mobility experience/International and professional mobility
Monthly gross earnings are determined as follows, according to current legislation:
- Positions of Special Scientists for Research – Researchers C’
€2347.58- €4068.88
- Positions of Post-Doctoral Researchers
€1494.67- €2989.55
- Positions of Post-Graduate Associates (Assistant Researchers A)
€1,068.06 - €2136.29
- Positions of Post-Graduate Associates (Assistant Researchers B):
€874.38 - €1,748.77
From the above amounts, employees contributions to Government Funds as well as Income Tax will be deducted, according to legislation into effect.
The amount of remuneration for successful candidates will be determined according to qualifications and employment status (full- or part-time). The employment will be for twelve (12) months with the prospect of renewal. It is noted that a 13th salary is provided, which has been proportionally incorporated in the monthly remuneration.
